The objectives of the YWAV are:

• Advocate professional recognition of the unique practice, knowledge, and skills of Youth Workers in Victoria and beyond. 
• Increase the professional and ethical standards for Youth Workers in Victoria. 
• Ensure quality Youth Work trainin and promote the ongoing professional development of Youth Workers in Victoria.
• Provide professional and industry-based recognition of Youth Workers across Victoria.
• Represent Ythou workers as a profession to major providers , state and local government

We provide a significant membership system showing our members experience and qualifications inclusive of Youth Work students

Membership includes:

• Recognition of qualifications and experience via specific gradings,
• Membership Certificate,
• Mmbership Card,
• Advocacy for members and the profession in Victoria,
• Regular quaterly newsletter

As a professional organiztion we provide professional recognition for professional Youth Workers accross Victoria.

YWAV has no desire to fill any of the national initiatives already fulfilled or re-invent the (Youth Worker) wheel. Where possible the YWAV strives within its aims and objectives and membership criteria to align itself with those of Youth Workers Australia.

The YWAV recognized Youth Workers Australia as the national body representing Youth Workeres as professional practitioners.

The YWAV will act on a Victorian basis and will not seek to work further afield. It erncourages all members to join the YWA
